Mazda Takeri Concept Previews the Next Mazda6
A new concept car will make its debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in December. Mazda has been working hard to execute its new “Kodo: Soul of Motion” design language into a new sporty sedan. The Mazda Takeri is its name, and it takes cues from the Mazda CX-5 compact crossover and re-imagines them for the smaller sedan body. The Kodo style is characterized by an inverted, pentagonal grille and what some have described as ‘angry eyes’. The Kodo style made its very first debut in the Shinari concept, which was later translated into the CX-5. Here at Ingram Park Mazda, the premiere Mazda dealer in San Antonio, Texas, we’re always excited to hear what new developments Mazda has coming down the line, and the Takeri concept is one of them.
Critics seem to have a positive reaction to pre-released photos of the Takeri concept. A refreshed exterior isn’t all that this car has to offer, however. The new sporty sedan will be showcasing Mazda’s newest technologies, something the company has referred to as “sustainable zoom-zoom.” An incarnation of the SkyActiv technology is featured, consisting of the SkyActiv-D clean diesel engine. The Takeri concept is also rumored to contain Mazda’s new regenerative braking system. The new developments under the hood will help Mazda consumers save money at the pump while also shrinking their environmental impact.
