Mazda2 Production Begins in Vietnam

The Mazda2 in San Antonio, Texas is now available, the Mazda2 is an all-new, entry level hatchback for 2011. The Mazda2 is definitely price conscious, but it does have a host of features that are definitely a plus for the owner of this vehicle. Recently, Mazda announced that production for the Mazda2 has begun at a new facility situated in Vietnam. This particular facility was specifically created to produce cars for the local market. The Nui Thanh district of Quang Name is in central Vietnam, and this are will be a hub for producing Mazda vehicles. The plant is expected to produce upwards of 10,000 cars per year.

Of the 10,000 vehicles that the new plant will produce annually, about 2,000 of them will be the Mazda2, specifically the sub-compact five-door hatchback body style. Mazda expects the Mazda2 to perform quite well in the region. Executive Vice President Kanai commented, “We are confident that that Mazda2 will be warmly accepted by Vietnamese customers despite the extremely competitive compact car segment.” Vietnam is in fact one of the largest markets for compact cars in the ASEAN region, due to its young population and great outlook for economic development.
